Why Are We Here? To talk about preventive pet healthcare To share why we do the work that we do To focus on how we can do an even better job of preventive healthcare in our practice Replace with a photo of your practice.

Preventive Pet Healthcare 24% of pet owners feel routine checkups are unnecessary. 1 33% of pet owners say that they would only take their pet to a veterinarian if it was sick. 1 Veterinary visits have been declining for almost a decade. 1. Banfield Pet Hospital. State of Pet Health: 2011 Report. Volume 1.

What We Want for Our Patients We have the power to make a huge difference in the lives of our patients and their owners. We want…… Complete these bullet points with your vision for your practice and patients.

A Little Inspiration

Commit Your Passion Why did we choose the veterinary field? Preventive healthcare is not always fun, but if we remember the values we all share, it highlights the importance of our work. A powerful way to show your passion for animals is to advocate for preventive healthcare for every pet that you see.

We Will Do This Together This is a team project. We want everyone to share their ideas. It is our job to advocate for preventive healthcare for our patients. Replace with a photo of your practice.

Moving Forward We are going to define our values around the topic of preventive pet healthcare together as a team. We are going to focus on improving our client relationships to reach more pet owners. We are going to implement the AAHA-AVMA Canine and Feline Preventive Healthcare Guidelines.

Connect With Clients Preventive healthcare is built on relationships. Clients want what we want – what is best for the health of their pets. We need to show our love of animals by advocating for what is best for pets. Clients need to know how much you care before they care how much you know. Replace with a photo of your practice.

Communicate Prevention The AAHA-AVMA Guidelines are a way to make sure that all of our patients receive the preventive healthcare message. We will create a protocol for implementation so that everyone is on the same page and knows their role when communicating prevention to clients.

Teamwork Our Values – Please complete the Team Worksheet. Communication – Think about how you communicate with clients. AAHA-AVMA Guidelines – Review the copies of the Guidelines. Replace with a photo of your practice.

Next Meeting Review and discuss the Team Worksheets and our practice values. Review a protocol to adopt the AAHA-AVMA Guidelines into our practice. Any questions?
