Stamp Act Britain was in debt 1765 Parliament passed a law that require colonists to pay a tax to have an official stamp put on wills, deeds, newspapers, and other printed materials

Boston Tea Party 1773 a group of colonists dumped a large load of British tea into Boston Harbor They were protesting a tax on tea King George III ordered the British Navy to close the port
