Activity: Video Clip Write down 10 things that you see in the video that are completely different than your life. Discuss your ideas. Write your own definition of "culture". I will write your key words on the white board to create a class definition.

CONNECTING Now watch the video AGAIN! Watch the video again and this time apply the different definitions to scenes in the video. I will stop the video several times and allow for you to discuss which definition of culture is being presented. Discuss in groups how your culture would be different if you were raised in another country. Just to focus on the big picture of what would change (e.g., clothing, language, religion, food, sports, etc.) Discuss the term “culture shock”. According to Merriam-Webster (n.d.), cultural shock is "a sense of confusion and uncertainty sometimes with feelings of anxiety that may affect people exposed to an alien culture or environment without adequate preparation" (para. 1).
