Summary of US Involvement List of US institutes that will participate in the pixel upgrade: Colorado, Cornell, Fermilab, Kansas, Kansas State, Mississippi, Nebraska, Purdue, Purdue Calumet, Rice, Rutgers, SUNY Buffalo, UCDavis, UIC, Vanderbilt Also involved Johns Hopkins, Texas A&M, Tennessee, UC Riverside, Puerto Rico Expressed interest: Ohio State US is responsible for the construction of the Forward Disks Europe and Taiwan responsible for the Barrel Pixel Infrastructure (cooling plant, cooling distribution system, dry air system supplies) will be provided by our international collaborators (CERN+France+Taiwan) for the whole pixel project Conett Huerta-E., [Jun 10, 2014] An Overview of the FPIX Detector Upgrade – CMS Experiment

Resulting Design in Comparison Pixel Upgrade: Baseline L = 2x1034 cm-2sec-1 & 25ns  50 pileup (50PU) with very small efficiency loss Tolerate L = 2x1034 cm-2sec-1 & 50ns  100 pileup (100PU) with reduced performance Survive Integrated Luminosity of 500 fb-1 (Evolutionary upgrade with) minimal disruption of data taking Same detector concept: higher rate readout, data link & DAQ w/ less material forward Robustify tracking : 4 hit coverage; 2 disks to 3 disks (can compensate point losses in strips) (To be installed in end of 2016 extended technical stop) Conett Huerta-E., [Jun 10, 2014] An Overview of the FPIX Detector Upgrade – CMS Experiment

Probe Station FNAL Purdue Purdue and FNAL have very similar Cascade probe stations. Probing sequence is automated with a circuit of IV measurements followed by a circuit of CV measurements. ~2 hours per wafer The LabVIEW VI will be configured to output an XML file for to facilitate uploading the data to the construction database. Care must be taken to protect the pixel bump pads, which face the chuck, and at the same time assure that all pixels are at the same potential.
