Perkins End of Year Evaluation

Perkins funding made a difference at our college by: Purchasing equipment for CTE programs. Building stronger relationships with high schools Offering new programs to high schools such as welding

Our college’s best practice using Perkins funds is: Ensuring that a variety of programs benefit from Perkins funding (share the wealth).

1. We strengthened the academic, career and technical skills of our students by: Purchasing industry recognized equipment Soliciting feedback from local industry leaders through our advisory committees.

We linked career and technical education at the secondary level with career and technical education at the postsecondary level: Establishing deeper relationships with our local Burke County school system through monthly planning meetings Bringing together high school teachers and Western Piedmont instructors.

3. We provided students with strong experience in, and understanding of all aspects of an industry by: Providing internships & field trips Ensuring quality programming Purchasing updated equipment

4. We developed, improved, or expanded the use of technology in career and technical education by: Developing an apprenticeship program that exposes students to current industry technology Implementing an AAS degree program in Mechatronics. Utilizing Industry recognized equipment Obtaining 3D modeling software for the Simulation Game Design AAS program

5. We provided professional development by: Engaging faculty in active learning strategies Two faculty members are completing NIMS certification Three faculty participated in Lean/Six Sigma training earning a Green Belt Level

6. We developed and implemented evaluations of our career and technical education programs by: Completing and reviewing: Course evaluations Faculty evaluations Conducting program review

7. We Initiated, improved, expanded, and modernized quality career and technical education programs, including relevant technology by: Utilizing data collected through program review Purchasing and implementing new software

8. We provided services and activities that are of sufficient size, scope, and quality to be effective as evidenced by: Program Review Providing child care support for CTE students Demographics and number of students to ensure viability annually

9. We provided activities to prepare special populations students who are enrolled in CTE courses by: Offering Career Fairs/Career Fairs Holding Open Houses Implementing Advanced Manufacturing Day activities Holding 8 th grade tours
