The Peer2Peer program will provide you with many rewards: Learning from a more-experienced individual Special P2P bi-weekly skill building seminars Engagement with a vibrant community of Leeds students Have an increased cohort community through programs and activities Find new ways to anticipate and solve typical first year problems Gather information about university-sponsored academic and social issues Different Levels Level 1: Weekly check in’s, once a month in person meetings Level 2: Weekly cohort times ARE YOU READY??

Being a Mentee Is: Learning some skills to help you in college Talking about your goals and how you can achieve them Focusing on your future Being open and trusting of the mentoring relationship DO… Commit to new things and take risks Listen to your mentor and seek to understand the advice he/she gives you Ask your mentor how they learned the information they are sharing with you; books, life experiences, seminars, etc. Return phone calls, s or texts from your mentors Do Not… Depend on your mentor to identify your goals for you Treat your mentor like a tutor for your business classes Be disrespectful by not returning phone calls, s or texts from your mentor

Making it work! 1.Communicate! -Set up regular meeting times to talk -Return texts and s! Be respectful. -Be open and comfortable 2. Set goals for yourself so you have something that your mentor can help you with - Be clear about what you want to focus on 3. Be open to learning new information from your mentor. A lot of the success of your partnership will depend on you. Take the initiative to reach out, establish a relationship and learn from your mentor.

Mentoring Agreement What does the mentee want out of the relationship? What are the mentees goals? What kind of expectations do mentee and mentor have of each other? How often will you meet? Where and when will you meet? Who is responsible for scheduling meetings? Is phone and texting ok?

S.M.A.R.T goals Specific- The goal should be concrete and action orientated. Should start with an action verb (for ex: develop, improve, create) Measurable- How will you know when you have achieved the goal? How do you define success? Achievable- The goal should be challenging, but attainable. Is the goal too big or too easy? Realistic- Do you have the ability to reach the goal? What additional resources will you need? Timely- When do you expect to have your goal accomplished? End of first week? First semester?
