Presentation transcript:

Important information Lectures begin at 5 after the hour and end at 5 to the hour. – Students who arrive late may not be allowed to enter Communication with students – It is College policy that students check their KCL account regularly – All communication from lecturers to students will be sent to KCL addresses

4.5 Nature of University studies (from the Handbook) – Staff spend a substantial part of their time advancing their subject through research, and this means that they teach their subject not as a static body but as something dynamic and developing. – Students are reminded that while formal lectures are a basic part of university teaching, they are only a starting point

4.7 Code of Conduct and Behaviour in Lectures (from the Handbook) – Turn off your mobile phone before the lecture starts. Never make or answer calls during a lecture. – Do not talk when the lecturer is talking; only conversations and discussions expressly permitted by the lecturer are allowed. If you persist in talking during the lecture you will be asked to leave. – Some lecturers prohibit the use of laptops during lectures.

4.8 Matters regarding Attendance and Absence (from the Handbook) – Students are required to maintain full and regular attendance at all lectures, classes, tutorials and examinations unless absence is supported by a medical certificate or is agreed in advance with the member of staff concerned.
