Concepts of 9 Knowledge Areas 4 The basic concepts of the 9 knowledge areas are applicable to Projects, Programs and Operations. General management in the 9 knowledge areas also include:  Planning, Organizing, Staffing  Execution and Controls  Financial Forecasting  Trends of Organizational Behavior  Planning Techniques

5 Five Project Management Process Groups  Initiating Process Group Processes performed to define a project or phase of an existing project.  Planning Process Group Establishes the scope, defines the objectives, develops the course of action.  Executing Process Group Completes the work defined in the project Charter or SOW.  Monitoring and Controlling Process Group Track, review, regulate the progress and performance of the project.  Closing Process Group Finalizing all activates in the project will the project management process groups and knowledge areas.

6 Process Groups Interaction Initiating Process Group Planning Process Group Executing Process Group Monitoring and Control Process Group Closing Process Group  When projects are divided into phases, each group is sequentially executed and can interact with another process group(s).  These process groups drive the project’s schedule from start to end of the project.
