 Consult with those who will be affected –Workers, supervisors and management  Ensure that it is a SMART standard Setting Your Standard 16 Make It a SMART Standard Good Objectives Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Time Bound State when you will be done. Do you have the resources you need to do it – money, people, time, materials, etc? State exactly what you want to do. Use Action Verbs. Answer who, what, why, when and how. Quantify it. How will you track your progress? Double check.. Are you trying to do too much?

Accident Investigation SGRP CD Slide #21 Safety Group Advantage Program HSMS Review (internal audit) Training: 2-hour “Introduction to Auditing” training available at the second Safety Group meeting (April 1:30 p.m.) A current qualification for auditing may be accepted as equivalent training (Check with your sponsor) This free training is available to all NOSG members A Record of Training will be provided subsequent to the completion of training 21

Accident Investigation SGRP CD Slide #22 Safety Group Program Documentation – Limited Extension of Submission Timelines Over the years the Northern Ontario Safety Group has made every attempt to work with our firms in allowing additional time, beyond program timelines, for document submission where extenuating circumstances existed. In 2016 we will be formalizing this process and require firms to contact Rose Bedard to request an extension in such When these requests are received, Rose will the firm confirmation of an extension of up to an additional 5 days to submit the outstanding documentation. Firms unable to submit the required documents within the identified timelines will be removed from the Safety Groups program for
