Care for glasses Be sure that patient wears them Be sure glasses are clear, and if not, wash in a lukewarm water and dry with a cotton cloth and clear them with a special cloth, do not use paper tissue
Care for visually impaired patient Explain where everything is using imaginary clock Do not move furniture or w/c Walk a little ahead of patient Provide Braille and audiobooks Know eye emergency symptoms seeing halo, blurred vision, reddening of the eye (angle closure glaucoma and wet form of macular degeneration) – report immediately to prevent vision loss.

Hearing loss and hearing aids
Cochlear implant A complex device for certain types of hearing loss. External part sits behind the ear, internal part is surgically implanted under the skin. An implant doesn’t restore hearing, but provides useful representation of sounds in environment.
Taking care of a hearing aid Out for a night, in in the morning Turn them on and check if they work before placing (hold between palms) Clean with dry cloth only, never with alcohol. Check tubing for clogging with wax. Remove before showering, cover if using hair spray. Swing a battery compartment out for a night Keep hearing aid in a safe place for a night time a hearing aid box with a patient’s name on it.
