Graphic Design Tricks Good ideas for Powerpoint presentations

Rule of Thirds

1. Place Key Elements at Power Points

2. Place Key Elements Along Horizontal Lines

3. Place Key Elements Along Vertical Lines

4. Place Key Elements at Power Points and Dividing Lines

Fonts – 11 Guidelines 1. Make it readable 2. Be consistent 3. Use large fonts

4. Choose three sizes at most Titles – 44pt Text – 36pt Tables, labels – 30pt

5. Use sans serif fonts.

6. Choose font appropriate for your audience 7. Use one or two font faces at most. -Choose formal, professional fonts -Avoid artistic funky scripts -Some fonts are difficult to read and distracting

8. Never use Word Art, 3-D effects, shadows, warping, etc

9. Use bold, italics, underline sparingly -Underlining reduces readability -Italics don’t look good with all fonts -Bold works the best for emphasis

10. Ensure high contrast

11. Use Additional Color for Emphasis Only Some simple color schemes: Background Main Text Emphasis Text Black White Yellow White Black Dark Red
