Philippians 1:9-10 / The Love of Christ…

Hebrews 13:8-15 / The Glory of Christ…

John 20:19-22 / The Mission of Christ…

 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes...

 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

Collins English Dictionary – 10 th Edition

 After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.

 By this gospel you are saved… 3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,

 That he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…

 “There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”

 People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them.

 And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.

a)Love INITIATES. In Ministry…

 People were bringing little children to Jesus...

 One day some parents brought their children to Jesus...

 Children are a gift from the L ORD ; they are a reward from him.

 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

 He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers; or else I will come and strike the land with a curse.

a)Love INITIATES. b)Love FACILITATES. In Ministry…

 One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them. But the disciples scolded the parents for bothering him.

 We will not hide these truths from our children; we will tell the next generation about the glorious deeds of the L ORD, about his power and his mighty wonders.

 For he issued his laws to Jacob; he gave his instructions to Israel. He commanded our ancestors to teach them to their children

 So the next generation might know them— even the children not yet born—and they in turn will teach their own children.

 So each generation should set its hope anew on God, not forgetting his glorious miracles and obeying his commands.

 The people brought children to Jesus, hoping he might touch them. The disciples shooed them off. But Jesus was irate and let them know it:

a)Love INITIATES. b)Love FACILITATES. c)Love ELEVATES. In Ministry…

 And He took them [the children up one by one] in His arms and [fervently invoked a] blessing, placing His hands upon them.

 Jesus gathered the children in His arms, and He laid His hands on them to bless them.

 …Jesus saw what was happening…

 On the day you were born your cord was not cut, nor were you washed with water to make you clean, nor were you rubbed with salt or wrapped in cloths.

 No one looked on you with pity or had compassion enough to do any of these things for you. Rather, you were thrown out into the open field, for on the day you were born you were despised.

 Then I passed by and saw you kicking about in your blood, and as you lay there in your blood I said to you, 'Live!'

...Never will I leave you; Never will I forsake you.

 How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God! And that is what we are…!
