Presentation transcript:

Just as God kept His covenantal promises with His people in the Old Testament… and just as there were certain conditions upon them for the people to follow, so it is with Jesus’ new prayer covenant with us.

Mark 11: The next day as they were leaving Bethany, Jesus was hungry. 13 Seeing in the distance a fig tree in leaf, He went to find out if it had any fruit. When He reached it, He found nothing but leaves, because it was not the season for figs. 14 Then He said to the tree, “May no one ever eat fruit from you again.” And His disciples heard him say it.

Mark 11: The Withered Fig Tree and the Importance of Faith-filled Prayer

Luke 17: The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” 6 Jesus replied, “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it will obey you.”

John 14: (NLT) 12 “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. 13 You can ask for anything in my Name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. 14 Yes, ask me for anything in my Name, and I will do it!”

John 15: 5-8 Jesus continues His organic illustrations by speaking about the importance of remaining obediently connected to Him for fruitful prayer.

John 16:23 “And in that day ye shall demand nothing of me: verily, verily, I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, He will give you.”

Matthew 18: “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in Heaven. 20 For where two or three gather in my Name, there am I with them.”

If…we remain united with Jesus and each other, if we learn to pray together, if we bear fruit with good deeds that further the Kingdom of God, if we obey Jesus by lovingly following His commands, if we forgive one another, if we use the small bit of faith we have…the Lord will be pleased to answer our Kingdom-focused prayers!
