Life's Inevitable Events

 Key Concept: Development  Related Concepts Adaptation Ergonomics  Statement of Inquiry People develop at different rates, but in the end we all adapt to our surroundings. “Offering the viewer a different take on reality” – Erik Johansson

 We will take a photo of ourselves, front facing and shoulders up, and perform an age progression.  Research your families history, where did they come from, what is the climate like, how might you look different if you had grown up there.  If necessary go back a few generations

 You do not need to alter your appearance to fit what you’ve discovered  However I would like you to at least understand where you’re family comes from

 The first video: Amazing detail about how to age progress using multiple photos, long though over 30 minutes Follow the link to YouTube - detailpage&v=UD_BqknfhME detailpage&v=UD_BqknfhME

 The second videos: Using different effects: detailpage&v=UGX2pshyreg detailpage&v=UGX2pshyreg

 The link goes over some detail, use this as support for those who are less confident 5/15/photoshop-tricks-age-progression-made- easy/ 5/15/photoshop-tricks-age-progression-made- easy/  Good detail, image created isn’t “perfect” tutorial/age-progression/ tutorial/age-progression/

Unit 2 Project

 For yours you will need to have someone take a picture of you standing. Your picture needs to show from your feet to your head.

 Reference material is always key!  Make sure you look at a few pictures of adults, teens, and children within your country. You will need this to see how much change you will have to do to your picture in order to create a certain effect!  Make sure you save this in your flash drive or H:Drive and then refer back to it while working in Photoshop.

 First step is to distort the face a little bit.  To distort, use the SMUDGE tool in Photoshop with the following settings:  Apply the smudge tool to enlarge and distort the affected areas by dragging around the nose, ears, cheeks, and chin.  You can also thin your lips out..use your smudge tool to make the lips thinner.  Don’t exaggerate otherwise your subject will start to look like a cartoon!

 Depending on your country you might need to change the color of your hair.  If you are wanting to whiten the brows use the Photoshop DODGE tool:  Paint the brows but again DON’T OVERDO IT!  You can also make the hair white by using the DODGE TOOL:  Now you can remove some eye lashes by using the CLONE STAMP TOOL:

 Open your image  Take a soft edges brush agreed to the size of your image.  Press “Q” to enter in quick mask mode. Mark all the hair area.  Press “Q” again to leave the quick mask mode.  Now you should have a selection around the hair. Go to SELECT>INVERSE. (should have a dotted line around the hair that you chose)

 Create a new layer and then fill area with the color of your choice.  Now, right click on the hair layer and select blending options, change the BLEND MODE to SOFT LIGHT.  There will be some areas where you went over your hair line/ears, etc. Select the eraser brush on a larger feathered size brush and start to clean up those bits.  When you have it looking like you want, you can duplicate the layer to make hair shade darker and again you will see some bits that you need to clean up, choose an even larger feathered brush and blend it in a bit more.

 Use the Photoshop CLONE STAMP TOOL to copy forehead onto your hair.  You can also change the hair color again using the same technique described earlier in Step 4.

 To increase level of wrinkles, you need to borrow the wrinkles from another image.  Open one or more pictures of older people and copy and paste the wrinkles to your own photo.  COPY BY USING THE LASSO TOOL:  Paste the wrinkle area to a different layer and then use distort from the transform menu to adjust the wrinkle size and orientation to the new face. APPLY 57% to layer fill:

 Then create a new adjustment layer of hue saturation and make sure you check the option “Group with previous layer”  Adjust the hue and saturation until the external wrinkle blends with your existing face color.

 Cut out the picture of the clothes you are wanting to use using the Lasso Tool.  Move images to your main image and transform them and edit the shadows/highlights to make it appear like the picture was taken with the clothes on.
