I would recommend Linux SuSe for home use for the following reason  I have it in a virtual setting and the user experience just keeps getting better and better.  It uses Yast for installation and the installation process is really easy.  It offers the latest version of KDE and GNOME window managers and the latest Linux kernel and Firefox browsing.  It includes OpenOffice and supports virtualization.  Yast makes it easy to update software, configure hardware, install new packages, and otherwise configure SuSe. Yast is incredible.
