You just can't live without music (okay, so maybe you should seek help, but piracy is so much cheaper!)

Requirements:
KDE. If you don't have KDE, follow instructions here to install the minimum requirements:
Sound drivers (Xine engine, ALSA, etc)
Advantages:
Fast and intuitive “Collection” interface
Dockable in the “tray”
Awesome “Suggested Mix” feature!

You just paid $300 for this beautiful, super hard to scratch, theft-proof, hard to lose, hunk of well.... iPod!

Apple has you locked in iTunes but iTunes is NOT available for Linux! :'(

either one (or both!) can be installed through apt-get or by going to their respective websites and downloading
Advantages
VLC has all codecs built in!
All of them play movies just as well as media player.... maybe even better!

Requirements: X11 or XGL
Advantages:
same lovely interface you used in windows (you DID use it in windows didn't you?!)

Alright, so you got me on all of those... but I bet Linux doesn't have a Remote Desktop program as secure and fast as Remote Desktop Connection so I can play my completely legal music from work!

download it from
make sure you have SSH ( daemon running
run /usr/NX/bin/nxserver as root
Advantages:
encrypted via SSH, runs on same port as SSH
supports Multimedia Extensions
