Presentation transcript:

Every 15 minutes, the earth receives enough energy from the sun to meet the energy needs for the entire world for 1 year! A house with windows facing the sun can be heated because of the passive system which has no working parts. A Solar collector is a box with a glass top placed on the roof. In the box are tubs that circulate water through the building.

Geothermal Energy is energy from the heat of the earth’s interior In Iceland, 80% of homes are heated by Geothermal Energy. Energy experts have harnessed some of this energy by drilling wells to reach the hot water.

Wind Energy is now being used to produce electricity in certain locations Small Wind- driven generators can meet some of the energy needs of individual homes. Wind energy is not very dependable

Wind, water, and Tide energy are three renewable resources that can help satisfy the growing energy needs of the world Energy from water comes from rivers, and from ocean tides.

Hydroelectric Energy is energy produced by running water. Today 11% of the electricity in the US comes from hydroelectric power plants. Inside a hydroelectric power plant the force of water spins turbines of electrical generators, which in turn produce electricity
