THIS WEEK IN SEISMIC NEWS… 12 earthquakes of a magnitude of 4.0 or greater have occurred this week, with two of a 5.0 magnitude. Last week, 5 earthquakes greater than a 4.0 were within the centralized boundaries of ( to ), ( to ), just north of Santiago, Chile on the oceanic Nazca plate. This week, 5 earthquakes were within to degrees south, to degrees west. These occurred at relatively shallow depths ranging between and km.
