“PROHIBIDO NO TOCAR” A place where you can learn playing

THE MUSEUM  Prohibido No Tocar is an institution which dedicates to the divulgation of science in a different way. This museum has interactive exhibitions, in which people between 4 and 100 years have the liberty to play and learn by the same time. The main objective is to do fun and interactive activities, with educational purposes.  This museum is directed by Fundación Museo Participativo de Ciencias.  In Prohibido No Tocar you can experiment, feel, question and explain. And it’s a place where project can be created. It’s based on the philosophy of the not allow not to touch, and learn playing.  The museum has ten different rooms, with differents instalations. And also, an auditorium.

HISTORY  Prohibido No Tocar opened in 1988, and since then 2 million people have already visited this museum.  Through UNESCO, it has been a model and a source of similar initiatives in Argentina and neighboring countries. Such as, “Parque de las ciencias de Mendoza” and “El Museo interactivo en Rio Gallegos”

TEN ROOMS  Perecepcion visual: In this room you will find phenomena such as optical illusions related with color and movement, impossible figures, contradictory images and many more surprises.  No sigas la corriente: In this room, our visitors can build circuits with different components, experiment with magnetism, feel an electric shock, among other adventures.  Mecánica: A set of exhibitions that address major laws and beggenings that govern the mechanical world. Some exhibitions are consistent with the common sense of the observer and defy others, awaking the curiosity of visitors.  Arte: In This Room You can make a UN travel through the history of art. Learn about materials, techniques, colors, perspective and the different artistic movements. Tech: A space where you can understand and know different technologies. How does a radar to detect aircraft and storms, to know how a satellite works, what is GPS and how a remote control works.

 No me mates matemática: In this area mathematics provide solution.This room invites you to know them from their fun side, with practical applications in everyday life.  Musica ondas y sonidos: In the music room, Waves and Sound you can experience from the spread of sounds to display them.  Fuerzas de la naturaleza: Wind, water, storms and other natural phenomena that affect the climate and life, are Issues that inspire the living forces of nature.  Y se hizo la luz: This room introduces us to the complex world of light, optical instruments and the sense of sight. A set of interactive exhibitions, related, leading the visitor through the principles that govern the universe of light.  Auditorio: During visiting hours attractive demonstrations are presented

IMPORTANT FACTS  Timetables: On School days: Tuesday to Friday: 10:00hs-17:00hs Saturday, Sunday and Holidays: 15:30hs-19:30hs On Winter Holidays: Monday to Friday: 12:30hs-19:30hs Saturday and Sunday: 15:30hs-19:30hs On Summer Holidays: Tuesday to Sunday: 15:30hs-19:30hs  Value: $65  The museum is located at: “Centro Cultural Recoleta”; Junin 1930; Buenos Aires – Argentina  Specifications: It´s suggest considering two (2 ) hours on average Time For Travel Museum. Income of up to one hour before closing the museum is allowed.

Schools:  Guided tours are Tuesday to Friday from 9am. in the morning onwards. The duration thereof is 1 hour 45 minutes, approximately. During the course of the visit, the third graders / EPB year onwards, tour 6 meeting that should be selected ( in advance) from 10 in the Museum. For groups of kindergarten, first and second grade / year EPB tour is 5 rooms. The value entry per student is $ Teachers and companions do not pay (a teacher ten students) To ask for a reservation date you shall call or Available Tuesday to Friday from 10hs to 17hs.

THE TRAVELLING EXHIBITION  The Museum has a “traveling exhibition " traveling to remote areas of the City of Buenos Aires spreading their mission and giving across the country the opportunity to experience in a participatory museum. It was originally built with the proceeds from the “Education Award " by the Navarro Viola Foundation. The traveling exhibition has been exhibited in the cities of La Plata, Rosario, Mendoza, Neuquén, La Pampa, Mar del Plata, Rafaela, Cipoletti, Salta, Rio III, Gualeguaychú, Bariloche, San Pedro, San Juan, Gral. Roca, Comodoro Rivadavia, Choele - Choel, Catamarca, Tucuman, San Martin de los Andes, Santa Fe, Carcarañá, San Nicolas, Concepcion del Uruguay, Posadas, Parchment, Santiago del Estero and Campana. The show has also been in the Children's Book Fair Youth, the University of Buenos Aires (Faculty of Engineering), Planetarium of the City of Buenos Aires, Pokémon World ( Costa Salguero ) and the “Buenos Aires Piensa” exhibition. Interactive Exhibitions: Reproducing apparatus phenomena, they facilitate the understanding of how these phenomena occur and stimulate creativity and imagination. Encourage discovery through direct action and work at a pace that requires each user, pleasant and fun.  Guides: It is necessary for better understanding of the human element and interactive exhibits that encourage the establishment of the link between these and the sample users, responding to the specific needs for information and support being vital in learning. They are perfectly able to meet those needs, considering the age of visitors, their interests and their level of academic information.
