Technology and Health Care Industry

The computerization of hospital for the billing and invoicing system, laboratory result reporting and diagnostic systems has benefited the patient as well as the nurses and healthcare provider True False

Computerized Physician Order Entry System

Automated systems that use computer system which enables the automatic processing of drug, food, and disease checking True False

The automation starts when the user enters the drug order and a computer system will automatically process the point of order. This system is integrated to the pharmacy system for enhancement.

Disadvantage of Handwritten Prescription Easy to implement Requires a minimum effort Low Cost Mistakes can cascade and lead to loss of lives

Advantage of Handwritten Prescription Problem with interpretation / transcription Data is not converted easily to information Quick processing Susceptible to error

Advantage of Computerized System High starting cost Requires additional effort to implement Data can be converted easily to information Accessibility to any healthcare personnel and accessibility to any healthcare institution

Advantage of Computerized System Data communication system will have an additional cost No problem with interpretation / transcription Special storage is necessary Additional manpower is necessary

Advantage of Computerized System Implementation requires severe justification No paper is required Requires training for nursing and healthcare giver Data can be easily corrupted

Which is better? Handwritten prescription Computerized prescription

Computer-Based Prescription-Entry System The computer-based prescription-entry system is integrated to pharmacy information system.

Automated Medication Dispensing Cabinets

Automated medication dispensing cabinets provide computer controlled storage, dispensation, tracking and documentation of medication. It ios a centralized medicine and drug distribution system that are integrated with the other system such as the nursing informatics system, pharmacy information system and billing and accounting department

How to preserve the integrity of the Automated Medication Dispensing Cabinets? Only the supervisor has the capability to access the system It is the responsibility of the pharmacist to dispense the medication the user is given authorization to have a secure access to the system None of the above

The system will provide report about the accessing the system as well as all patients / residents for whom the medication will be administered.

Who is responsible for proper stocking and storage of the Automated Medication Dispensing Cabinets Authorized nurse informatician Authorized physician Authorized pharmacy staff Authorized significant others

It is also important to implement the bar code technology system to automate the replenish and track dispensation

A Pneumatic Tube System serves light internal transport; it is able to guarantee the handling automation of small goods rapidly and safely.

A Pneumatic Tube System is made up of communicating sending and receiving stations connected through a pipeline network. Goods are introduced in appropriate containers that are conveyed inside the pipeline thanks to an air flow created by a blower. The containers can convey up to 8 kg and move at the maximum speed of 8 m/sec.

Everywhere it is necessary to transport money, documents, production samples, test tubes, drugs or laboratory samples, inside a Hypermarket, a Supermarket, a Shopping Centre, a Multiplex, a Hospital or an Industry, a Pneumatic Tube System represents the concrete solution for many problems concerning internal logistics.
