8 8 RoHS status on PQD products RoHS Recast Implementation to national legislation by Jan 2013 All EEE will be in the scope after transition periods CEMEP current position on UPS: need to be compliant by 2019 But… there are differences in implementing legal requirements in each member state mostly consumer products (1Ph plug in UPSs) can already be interpreted to be in RoHS scope for some countries Transition periods vary in countries/customers Most Eaton 1ph are RoHS compliant and all new products will be compliant Contact: or alias Heinz is the Product Stewardship Manager for Electrical

9 9 REACH status in PQD products REACH consists in an inventory of SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern): we have to verify if our products have those substances above threshold limits So far SVHC substances above threshold limit might be discovered in EATON 9130 and EATON 9140 New substances added every six months No compliance certificates can be done for REACH: we only have to communicate to customer the information if we have SVHC above threshold

13 End of Life/ Recycling Regulations Mostly affect countries (declaration/taxes) and design WEEE Recast (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Applies to all EEE after transition period 2018 Aims at preventing the generation of electrical and electronic waste and promotes reuse, recycling and other forms of recovery. WEEE markings (trash bin symbol) in products Requires manufacturers/ importers to register and declare EEE products and pay fee in each EU country (following local application) Member states have different implementation scope/ measures! Batteries and Accumulators Directive Minimize the negative impact of batteries and accumulators and their waste on the environment Certain markings in products, threshold limits for cadmium and mercury Requires manufacturers/ importers to register and declare batteries and pay fee according to total weight or amount in each EU country (following local application) Packaging and Packaging Waste Directive Targets to decrease the amount of packaging material introduced into the market, provides measures concerning the management of packaging and packaging waste Marking in packaging materials Requires manufacturers/ importers declare packaging materials of products and pay fee in each EU country according to the total weights (following local application)
