LeTitia M. Williams EDU650 Instructor Ricci November 2, 2015

Introduction  My name is LeTitia Williams, I am from Georgia. Today I would like to share with you why I would be a great asset to your school.  I am a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design with a BFA in photography, a graduate of Georgia Southwestern State University with a P-12 Fine Art Education certification and I am currently pursuing my Masters of Art in Education at Ashford University.  I am applying for a lead position at your school and I would like to teach 11 th and 12 th grade AP Art.

Educational Philosophy  My role as an educator is to inspire my students to develop a yearning to learn, a thirst for knowledge and never stop asking questions.  My responsibility as an instructor is to provide guidance, resources, and instruction to my students.  I embrace diversity in the classroom and actively balance the needs of the individual learner and the entire class.

Classroom Management Plan  The purpose or goal of my classroom management plan is to organize the classroom and maximize the time for engaged learning.  I organize the classroom in small groups and develop my rituals and routines from the first day.  The expectations in my classroom are for every student to come prepared, equipped, and inspired to learn.  The students’ role in my class is to contribute their knowledge and experiences to the group. The students in my class actively participate in their learning experience.  My role in the classroom is to inspire my students, to facilitate, to offer guidance and support, to plan effectively and create lessons that enhance learning.

Classroom Management Plan A visual representation of the physical arrangement of the classroom.

Differentiated School Models Private schools still earned A’s at a higher rate than public schools. Being teachers we must recognize that the current school model of a old-style uniform instructional method is inept at producing students with the much needed 21st century skills required for a global economy and the American society that awaits them.

Effective Lesson Planning and Design DELIVER FORWARD DESIGN BACKWARD Learning outcomes Learning outcomes Set specific objectives Design assessments Develop learning activities Choose standard/ concept

Assessment  The teacher methodically selects an assortment of formative and summative assessment approaches and tools that are effective and suitable for the content and students being taught (Barge 2013, Chapter 1, Paragraph 1, Page 1).  In order to close or minimize the gap of achievement for our students in schools we must assess and evaluate our students. The teachers must use data driven instruction in order to successfully educate students. The data can be broken down into quartiles to differentiate the instruction. The usage of weekly common assessments, tiered instruction, and established goals per department can minimize the achievement gaps of students.

Professional Learning Communities Professional learning communities (PLCs) offer an infrastructure to connect individuals and a way of creating an organization that is dedicated to collaboration and continual learning. (Newman 2013) A professional learning community is a group of teachers willing to collaborate for the betterment of their students.
