In the DPFC the series converter employs the DSSC concept, 29/11/ Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College

5. M. A. Hannan and Azah Mohamed, Member, “PSCAD/EMTDC Simulation of Unified Series-Shunt Compensator for Power Quality Improvement” IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER DELIVERY, VOL. 20, NO. 2, APRIL 2005  This paper deals with the simulation of a unified series-shunt compensator (USSC) aimed at examining its capability in improving power quality in a power distribution systems. The USSC simulation model comprises of two 12-pulse inverters which are connected in series and in shunt to the system This paper results verify the capabilities of the USSC in performing voltage sag compensation, flicker reduction, voltage unbalance mitigation, UPS mode, power- flow control and harmonics elimination. A comparison of the USSC with other custom power devices shows that the USSC gives a better performance in power-quality mitigation 29/11/ Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College

6. P. P. Tambe & K. D. Joshi “ Distributed Static Series Compensator (DSSC) Application To Power System- A Review)” Department of Electrical Engineering, G.H.Raisoni College of Engineering, Nagpur, India This paper showcasing review of distributed static series compensator (DSSC)& explains the effect of insertion of DSSC in transmission line power flow control. FACTS ( Flexible AC Transmission System) technology the aspect of Power Electronics offers High speed & reliability of switching & thus the value of electric energy is enhance. Along with merits there are certain problems offered by FACTS technology which leads to complexity in operation & overall cost investment becomes large,The solution to this is DFACTS technology 29/11/ Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College

7. A. M. El Nady, A. The main advantage of this strategy is that it does not require any model or state-space formulation to extract the disturbances, such as the other commonly used state-space techniques it is very simple for practical implementation compared to the time-domain and frequency-domain methods 29/11/ Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College

8. Jovica V. Milanovic´, Fellow, IEEE, and Yan Zhang, “Modeling of FACTS Devices for Voltage Sag Mitigation Studies in Large Power Systems” IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER DELIVERY, VOL. 25, NO. 4, OCTOBER 2010  This paper introduces a new approach of quasistatic sag analysis using a system impedance (Z bus) matrix that incorporates FACTS devices. Three types of FACTS devices which are most often used in practical applications are considered in this study: static compensator, static var compensator, and the dynamic voltage restorer The case studies based on the 295-bus generic distribution system are used to illustrate the modeling method and the effectiveness of these devices in sag mitigation. 29/11/ Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College

9. Ahmet Teke, Lütfü Saribulut, and Mehmet Tümay, “A Novel Reference Signal Generation Method for Power-Quality Improvement of Unified Power-Quality Conditioner” IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON POWER DELIVERY, VOL. 26, NO. 4, OCTOBER 2011  This paper proposes a novel reference signal generation method for the unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) adopted to compensate current and voltage-quality problems of sensitive loads The UPQC consists of a shunt and series converter having a common dc link. The shunt converter eliminates current harmonics originating from the nonlinear load side and the series converter mitigates voltage sag/swell originating from the supply side 29/11/ Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College

 The aim of the project is to Mitigate The Voltage Sag and Swell using DPFC, with three different control schemes – 1. Central controller 2. Series Control 3. Shunt Control.  In DPFC, several single-phase series distributed converters connected to a transmission line. 29/11/ Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College

 Power quality is defined as the index which both the delivery and consumption of electric power affect on the performance of electrical apparatus.  From a customer point of view, a power quality problem can be defined as any problem is manifested on voltage, current, or frequency deviation that results in power failure 29/11/ Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College

 The term "power quality" refers to the voltage stability, frequency stability, and the absence of various forms of electrical noise (e.g. flicker or harmonic distortion) on the electrical grid.  More broadly speaking, power companies (and their customers) prefer an alternating current with a nice sinusoidal shape. 29/11/ Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College

 Power flow control.  Increase in transmission capability.  Voltage control.  Reactive power compensation.  Stability improvement.  Power quality improvement.  Power conditioning.  Interconnection of renewable and distributed generation plants. 29/11/ Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College

 The DPFC is a device which can control simultaneously all three parameters of line power flow  Such "new" FACTS device combines together the features of two "old" FACTS devices: 1. Shunt Converter 2. Series Converters.  These two devices are two Voltage Source Inverters (VSI’s) connected respectively in shunt with the transmission line through a shunt transformer and in series with the transmission line through a series transformer. 29/11/ Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College

 The shunt inverter is used for voltage regulation at the point of connection injecting an opportune reactive power flow into the line and to balance the real power flow exchanged between the series inverter and the transmission line.  The series inverter can be used to control the real and reactive line power flow inserting an opportune voltage with controllable magnitude and phase in series with the transmission line. 29/11/ Sree Vidyanikethan Engineering College
