I Am an Entrepreneur Entrepreneur – Business – Profit – A person who starts his or her own business in hope of earning a profit. A company or organization that buys and sells products or provides services. Income earned after all expenses are paid.

Products – Services – Customer – Innovative – An item created for sale, like a car or CD. Providing something useful, like a haircut or car repairs. A person who purchases a product or service. To create something new, original, or groundbreaking.

Know the market need and your potential competitors. Have expert knowledge of both the customer and the product. Think outside the box, and look for new and different solutions to needs that have been identified. Identify likes, skills/abilities, and work to improve them.

I Can Change the World Creative – Apprentices – Self-taught – To think imaginatively and resourcefully. A person who studies with experts in his or her chosen field. A person who learns on his or her own as much as possible about a product, service, or business.

Fill a need – Market – Brainstorming – Market Research – Create a product or service people want to buy or use. A collection of current and/or prospective customers. A method used to generate ideas. Gathering and evaluating data regarding customers’ preferences for products and services.

A legal form of business operation between two or more individuals who share management and profits. A form of business operation that declares the business as a separate, legal entity guided by a group of officers known as the board of directors.

I See a Need Social Entrepreneur – Society – A person who sees a need in a society or community and pursues a solution using his or her entrepreneurial skills and sound business practices. A community of people sharing customs, laws, and organizations.

Business Plan Guide In your own words, describe the urgent need you’ve identified. Describe your “big idea” to meet this need. Explain how your plan will benefit customers and why they will use your product or service. List your resources, including people who can help you get started. Describe three things you will do to make your big idea happen. Assuming you obtain start-up funding, describe how you will manage it.
