Purpose of presentation provide an overview of SEA experience in Scotland since July 2004

Outline SEA in Scotland –procedure & process –roles and responsibilities types of PPS issues & challenges

Scottish legislation Directive 2001/42/EC The Environmental Assessment of Plans and Programmes (Scotland) Regulations 2004 –plans and programmes within eleven identified (public) sectors Environmental Assessment (Scotland) Act 2005 –all public sector plans, programmes and strategies (including policies)

SEA requirement all qualifying public sector plans, programmes & strategies with significant effects subject to SEA

SEA legislation qualifying PPS roles & responsibilities procedures
