-Objective: Create an efficient multimodal system to reduce air pollution and to minimize the cost of freight transportation while optimizing freight capacity for the city of Pittsdelphia. EnvironmentMeet Tier 4 standards Cost EfficientLowest cost under 100 million over 20 years SpeedPerishables under 48 hours; Non-perishables under a week AestheticsMaintain a sound level under 95 decibels without sacrificing jobs CapacityTo import at least 165,000 tons of coals and freight per day -Specifications: Pittsdelphia Transportation Proposal Planning CommissionCitizens of Pittsdelphia Railroad CompanyDr. Colledge EPAEngineers General ElectricBarge Company The final solution involves all of the coal, which consists of 25% of the total 165,000 tons of freight and minerals, to be transported by freight. The other 123,750 tons are distributed 75% by barge and 25% by truck.

Specification EnvironmentMeet tier 4 standards Cost EfficientLowest cost under 100 million over 20 years SpeedPerishables under 48 hours; Non-perishables under a week AestheticsMaintain a sound level under 95 decibels without sacrificing jobs CapacityTo import at least 165,000 tons of coals and freight per day

Pairwise Comparison

Ideas -All coal is moved by train -Barges would carry 75% of the freight -Trains for the more local 25% transports -All of the coal by freight - 75% by barge -25% by truck. -Locomotives transport the coal -Barges would transport the remaining freight -All of the coal is transported by freight -The freight was separated into truck and barge in a 4:1 ratio.
