Make a Schedule 0 Step One: Decide the order in which you should study. (Things to consider: timeline, grades) 0 Step Two: Approximate how much time you will need to spend studying for each final. 0 Step Three: Mark a calendar with available times to study. 0 Step Four: Fill in your slots with names of classes.

Make some time 0 Be realistic about when and for how long you can study. 0 Consult with your parents about family time commitments. 0 Consider your sports, clubs, job, etc. 0 Mornings, lunch periods, right after school, evenings, and weekends 0 Social life might have to be put on hold.

Where to study? 0 Somewhere in your house 0 Media Center 0 Public Library 0 Starbucks 0 Paradise Grill 0 Friend’s house 0 Classroom

Study Materials 0 Notes 0 Graded papers 0 Textbook 0 Other papers 0 Study Guide 0 Notecards 0 Pens, pencils, highlighters

What to DO! 0 Locate study guide – highlight areas of concern 0 What if I did not get a study guide? Try to make your own by going through your textbook, notes and graded papers. Try looking back at the teacher’s blog. Make a list of units, and then add details about each unit. 0 Organize notes – highlight important info 0 Read over graded papers - highlight 0 Skim through textbook

NOTECARDS! 0 Topic on one side, info on the other side 0 Question on one side, answer on the other side 0 Word/Term on one side, definition on the other side 0 Picture on one side, info on the other side 0 See the pattern? 0 You can color code them! (by subject, difficulty, etc.) 0 Sort them in different ways! (by class, urgency, etc.) 0 They are portable!

Some “Don’ts”! 0 Wait until the night before the final and try to “cram” 0 Re-read every word of your textbook 0 Study with someone who will distract you 0 Make any drastic changes to your diet, sleeping pattern, exercise routine, medication, etc. 0 Ignore a study guide, review session, blog posting 0 Kiss, drink after, share germs with people who are sick!

Some Do’s! 0 Get plenty of sleep! 0 Eat, stay hydrated, take good care of yourself! 0 Take breaks while studying! 0 Reward yourself! 0 Choose study partners wisely! 0 Choose study location wisely! 0 Make a plan! 0 Stick to your plan!

The Day of the Final 0 Dress comfortably, in layers. You want options if the room is too hot or too cold. No one is trying to be cute during Finals! 0 EAT BREAKFAST! There are mountains of research that teenagers perform better after eating breakfast. 0 Supplies: #2 pencil, black pen, paper, etc. 0 Emergency supplies: water, cough drops, tissues, gum, etc. 0 Focus!
