Find your new assigned seats!

 Tarea:

  ¿Cuál es la fecha de hoy?  Hoy es el trece de marzo de dos mil quince.  Es el trece de marzo.  ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños?  Mi cumpleaños es el diez de agosto.  ¿Cuándo es el cumpleaños de tu amiga?  Su cumpleaños es el primero de enero.  ¿Cuándo es la fiesta?  La fiesta es el primero de agosto. Preguntas:

  Format for a date:  El [#] de [mes] de [año]  NOTE: For the 1 st of any month you use:  El primero de [mes] de [año]  NOTE: Months in Spanish, like days, are not capitalized unless they start out the sentence. Las fechas:

  Talking entirely in Spanish, you will as a class get in order by birthday.  You must ask each other  ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños?  And you must answer in a complete sentence.  Mi cumpleaños es el [#] de [mes] ¿Cuándo es tu cumpleaños?

 Spanish 2 Planning ahead

 Spanish II: Aim Normal:  Give the student a good understanding of basic Spanish and an ability to use it in a practical manner.  Introduce the student to more advanced content to form a framework for future studies. Advanced:  Give the student a good understanding of basic Spanish and an ability to use it in a practical manner.  Explore more advanced content and its practical uses.  Prepare for university level classes with more depth than normal level.

 Spanish II: Content Normal:  Intensive review of Spanish 1 content.  Cover past tense in detail.  Intro to other grammar concepts (subjunctive, future, conditional, etc.) Advanced:  Concise review of Spanish 1 content.  Cover past tense in detail.  Explore other grammar concepts (subjunctive, future, conditional, etc.)

 Spanish II: Pace Normal:  Steady pace  Work through concepts similar to this year with time for questions, further exploration, and notes. Advanced:  Faster pace  Work through concepts similar to this year but with more of a focus on exploration and learning through personal exploration.

 Spanish II: Expectations Normal  More Spanish usage in class than Spanish I.  Work with vocabulary practice inside and outside of class.  High expectations of commitment and work.  Reading, writing, speaking and listening to Spanish. Advanced  More Spanish usage in and outside of class.  More vocabulary to learn in the year to be practiced both in class and individually.  Higher expectations for personal commitment and work.  Reading and writing Spanish with a bigger emphasis on speaking and comprehension.

  What are the main benefits to splitting the Spanish 2 classes into Normal and Advanced?  Will I be bored if I don’t go for the Advanced level?  Will the advanced level be way more work?  Will I still be able to take university level Spanish if I don’t take the advanced level? Questions:

 Will this happen? In order for this to go ahead next year, we need the current Spanish 1 students who are planning to go on next year to Spanish 2 to split basically down the middle into two classes.

Please give us your feedback on this idea!
