With Bishop Mike Coyner who has been assigned to serve the Indiana Area for a third term (through August of 2016). 1

During the last 8 years, the North and South Indiana Conferences came together to create the new Indiana Conference: a renewed focus upon our Mission, Vital Congregations, Tithing, Rejuvenate, in a Streamlined Structure 2

We are not finished yet … we must keep imagining a new Indiana. We will continue to build upon our Foundation which is in Jesus Christ and is represented by the “operational values” of our UMC. 3

4

As we keep Imagining a new Indiana, we will continue to build upon our Foundation in Christ and our Operational Values 12

Your input is needed to help shape these next four years. Bishop will offer his initial thoughts. Your responses will be recorded and help shape plans for the next 4 years. 13

Bishop’s initial thoughts: 1. Focus Upon Leadership: recruiting newer, younger leaders through camping ministry, Rejuvenate and other ministry scholarships, Bishop’s Leadership Academy, etc. 14

15

Bishop’s initial thoughts: 2. Focus Upon Mission Partnerships such as Africa University, Operation Classroom, local and state mission projects, and direct partnerships around the world for mutual benefits 16

17

Bishop’s initial thoughts: 3. Focus Upon Strengthening Our Congregations through Vital Congregations, Fruitful Congregation Journey, ministry clusters, and new churches 18

19

What else do you recommend for the next 4 years? (either for the Bishop or for all of us as the Indiana Conference) (we will take notes of your ideas) 20

 What is your response to the Bishop’s three foci (leaders, missions, vital congregations)?  What part of Imagine Indiana is still not complete? What else do you imagine?  What are your dreams for Indiana and the UMC? 21

If you have additional thoughts after tonight about our next 4 years, please the bishop at: (your message will go to the Bishop’s Secretary, Ed Metzler, to be compiled) 22

Philippians 3:

Not that I have already obtained this or have already reached the goal; but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Beloved, I do not consider that I have made it my own; but this one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on towards the goal for the prize of the heavenly * call of God in Christ Jesus. 24

Only God knows. God will guide us, but we must receive and respond to God’s guidance. Thank you for your help and your openness to God’s guidance in your life. 25
