Choose your compulsory, elective, and alternate courses as you have in the past. If you are unsure how to complete your course selections, please make an appointment with your counsellor. Print your Course Selection Sheet. Sign and date it and have one of your parents/guardians sign and date it too. Return both to your homeroom teacher with your Activity Fee.

SHSM Program Specialist High Skills Major HEALTH AND WELLNESS

The SHSM is a Ministry approved program offered to Grade 10 students going into Grade 11 This program is open to all workplace, college, and university bound students The SHSM program allows students to explore and prepare for careers in medicine, health care, teaching, psychology, social work, kinesiology, fitness, food and nutrition, veterinary medicine, and much more The program is a two year commitment that ‘bundles’ various inter- related courses, including a cooperative education placement While in the program students in Grade 11 and 12 earn certifications such as First Aid /CPR and are exposed to various ‘reach ahead’ experiences through field trips, guest speakers, and visits to colleges and universities Students who successfully complete the required program components will earn a Red Seal on their Ontario Secondary School Diploma JEAN VANIER HEALTH AND WELLNESS SPECIALIST HIGH SKILL MAJOR

Student Selection Criteria Requirements of Co-op: Be at least 15 years of age in Grade 11 Earned at least 15 credits Complete an online Co-op Educational Application Form (during online course selection), submit 2 teacher references Successfully complete an interview with a member of the Co-op Department
