Uses of Energy by:Jackie Beebe

Energy Energy is the ability to do work. The Law of Energy says it can not be created or destroyed.

ELECTRICITY A form of energy resulting from the existence of charged particles.

AIR CONDITIONING A system for controlling the humidity, ventilation, and temperature in a building or vehicle, typically to maintain a cool atmosphere in warm conditions.

KINETIC ENERGY Energy that a body possesses by virtue of being in motion.

POTENTIAL ENERGY The energy possessed by a body by virtue of its position relative to others, stresses within itself, electric charge, and other factors.

CHEMICAL ENERGY Energy stored in the bonds of chemical compounds (atoms and molecules). It is released in a chemical reaction, often producing heat as a by product (exothermic reaction)

THERMAL ENERGY The internal energy of an object due to the kinetic energy of its atoms and/or molecules

MECHANICAL ENERGY The energy possessed by an object due to its motion or its position.

NUCLEAR ENERGY The energy released during nuclear fission or fusion, especially when used to generate electricity.
