The Holland Code What Is It? The Holland Code is a system (or instrument) developed by John Holland to help people discover what type of personality they are and what type of job in which they would be most happy. The Code is broken down into six broad personality types.

Holland Types R – Realistic I – Investigative A – Artistic S – Social E – Enterprising C- Conventional

Realistic (R) Some Examples Like to lift weights—strong physically Like to build things with tools Like to work outdoors Don’t really like crowds Don’t like to work in groups--quiet You like machines & sports

How About Enterprising (E) You like to talk and persuade Strong Leader Aggressive, popular, sociable Adventuresome, Ambitious You like money and material possessions Dislike science and systematic thinking

Conventional © Like to work with numbers People call you practical & efficient Don’t like to try new things Like things calm and in order Save money, buy conservatively Stable, controlled, dependable
