King Tutankhamen (too-ten-common) was crowned when he was 8 or 9 years old and died when he was just 18 or 19 years old.

Hieroglyphics are ancient writing symbols.

Another name for the Valley of the Kings is the Burial Ground of the Pharaohs.

The Nile River flows through Egypt and its floodwaters provide deposits of rich silt for farmland and crops.

The city of Thebes is also the home of the god-king or Pharaohs. This is where Ramses II built an obelisk and statues in his honor.

Pyramids are monuments or burial places for the pharaohs.

The pharaohs were the kings or rulers.

On November 4, 1922, Howard Carter discovered the tomb of King Tutankhamen.

Five types of art that were discovered in the tombs were paintings, sculpture, statues, masks and shrines.

The ankh is the sign of life.

The crook and flail are symbols of the god Osiris and were used on the three coffins of King Tut.
