Presentation transcript:

Malala Yousafzai Education Activist “Why is it that countries which we call strong are so powerful in creating wars but are so weak in bringing peace? Why is it that giving guns is so easy, but giving books is so hard?”

Why I selected Malala The reason I picked to research Malala is because she is one of the youngest people ever to win a Nobel Peace Prize. She was shot in the head by the Taliban in 2012 because she was against what they were trying to do and demanded that young girls and women receive an education. She is alive today and is still trying to make it easier for women and children to get an education. She isn’t an ordinary teen, she didn’t give into peer pressure when people told her to not speak out about the Taliban and just to listen to what they told her to do. She still spoke out and wanted to get her message across. Malala has very high personal standards and she knows what she wants to do with herself. She shows that it doesn’t matter how old you are you can still make a difference and that in order to make something happen you have to work hard for it.

Accomplishments Malala is the youngest person ever to win the Nobel Peace Prize. She wrote her own book called: I Am Malala. She has shown how important getting an education is and has opened up a fund called the “Malala Fund” to help children in developing countries get an education.

Malala’s Universal Values Integrity > Consistent w/ beliefs Fairness > Equal treatment Caring > Concerned for others Respect > Support the rights and beliefs of others Responsibility > Contribution to society Pursuit of excellence > Pride in work and bettering your character
