Class 21, November 12, 2015 Lesson 3.8

 By the end of this lesson, you should understand that: ◦ To solve any equation, you must follow the basic rules of undoing and keeping the equation balanced

 By the end of this lesson, you should be able to: ◦ Solve linear equations that require simplification ◦ Solve for a variable in a linear equation in terms of another variable ◦ Solve for a variable in a single-term quadratic equation

 Main idea: ◦ The process of solving equations is always the same: deciding how to “undo” what has been done to the variable you want to solve for, and keeping the equation balanced by undoing both sides of it. The process is based on the order of operations.
