2. Vocabulary
When you solve an equation, the goal is to get the variable by itself on one side of the equation.
One way to do this is to use inverse operations. Inverse operations undo each other. For example, to solve an addition equation, use subtraction.

3. Solve an Equation by Subtracting
Solve x + 3 = 8.

Solve b + 5 = 2
