Popular Sovereignty Power of the government comes from the people.

Republicanism People elect their officials

Limited Government The Constitution limits the power of government by listing the powers it does and does not have

Federalism The sharing of power between state and federal governments

Separation of Powers Separation of government power into 3 branches

Checks and Balances Gives each branch of government power over the others

Individual Rights Basic rights that protect individual liberties..Bill of Rights – the first 10 Amendments

Judicial Review The power of the Supreme Court to declare a law unconstitutional
