Mac Arthur  USA general in charge of the Philippines  Japan begins to invade, “I shall return”  Bataan Death March- 78,000 POWs captured by Japan march 65 miles to Bataan prison camp, many die of exhaustion/starvation

Coral Sea  USA broke Japan’s radio code  USA stopped Japan from invading New Guinea and later Australia  Major victory for USA, stopped Japan expansion in Pacific
