What is Destiny?

Destiny is the RMS Library’s online catalog. It can be accessed from any computer that has internet access, at home AND in school. Patrons can search the RMS catalog, as well as, the catalog for any other school in RTSD. Destiny can be used for finding reliable, middle-school appropriate websites (WebPath Express). You can access all of the school’s subscription databases from the Destiny Home page.

The Destiny Home Page provides links to commonly used resources, including subscription databases.

There are five (5) ways to search Destiny. Keyword, Title, Author, Subject and Series

Use a “KEYWORD” search to find all materials related to your search term. This type of search will provide you with the greatest number of results.

You can also search by “TITLE.” If you are unsure of the exact title you may want to use a “Keyword” search instead.

Another way to search is by “AUTHOR.” You can enter both first and last name, or just last name.

“SUBJECT” searching yields fewer, but more focused, results. This searches ONLY the subject field of the book records.

To search for books in a series, enter the series name and click on “SERIES”.

Now it’s your turn to use Destiny! Use Destiny to find the answers to the following questions: 1.Find the title of a book by Gordon Korman. 2.Who wrote The School for Good and Evil? 3.How many titles do you get when you search the keyword – yellow fever? Websites? 4.How many copies of The Hunger Games doe RMS own? How many does RHS own?

You now have the skills to search Destiny for books, websites and ebooks.
