The Story The Odyssey tells the story of an epic hero’s journey home from the Trojan War. His journey home takes over 10 years. The hero Odysseus, (a.k.a. Ulysses), learns many lessons along the way.

Greek Values 1.The role and importance of Fate Greeks believed they were not ultimately in charge of their own destiny.

2. Loyalty – especially from women (faithfulness), and to your friends 3. Cleverness – a hero must be both physically and mentally strong 4. Love for home and family 5. Kindness to strangers – hospitality; you never know who that “stranger” might really be!

6. MOST IMPORTANT: Respect for the gods To a Greek, the worst “sin” you could commit would be the sin of HUBRIS. Hubris is pride; hubris is when you think yourself equal to, or greater than, the gods. Big mistake!
