What is Bullying? Four Major Components: -Imbalance of power -Bully has intent to harm -Threat of further aggression exists -Continued agitation

Types of Bullies: Physical Bully -Action oriented -Hitting, pushing, theft, property damage -Everyone knows them

Types of Bullies: Verbal Bully -Words as the weapon -teasing, name calling, constant insults -No visible scars

Elementary School: Fail to understand the meaning of the hurtful words they use and don’t realize the impact they have. I.E.: cooties, germs Middle School: The “hot zone” for bullying. Kids become adept at finding specific areas of vulnerability in their victims. IE: teasing, ostracizing, sexual harassment High School: The most common form of bullying would be in the area of socialization. The opposite sex is also a very common reason for bullying.
