Research Transportation is the one of the largest sources of air pollution in the United States. Transportation caused over half of the carbon monoxide, over a third of the nitrogen oxides, and almost a quarter of the hydrocarbons in our atmosphere in the year Most air pollution occurs when we burn something like gasoline when we use a vehicle. The car exhausts releases a lot of bad gases, which create air pollution. These gases can be very dangerous for children, adults, animals and vegetation. Although the fuels are becoming cleaner, it has not made that much of a difference because there are more and more cars being built and used each year.

Sources of Air Pollution The main source of air pollution is from cars, trucks, and other sources of transportation. Nitrogen oxides are emitted from vehicles, like cars and trucks. During rush hour periods, a lot more is released into the air. Hydrocarbons are produced when petrol is not fully burnt. They are one of the causes of modern-day smog. These substances can irritate the respiratory system and are released during fuel combustion and the burning of leaves, garbage, and wood.

What affect do these gases have on us? Affects us by letting out carbon dioxide into the air we breathe. Also it damages our heart, lungs and body. Are pollution can harms us in so many wise.

Hypothesis If we can see how much a single car emits carbon dioxide, we may be able to find a ways to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the air. Then we will be able convince people to car pool, stop idling, not drive around for fun, and use gas wisely. I

Final 19.4 pounds of CO2 are in one gallon of gas. If we add up all of our miles, then divide it by 33 then times it by I used about 271 pounds of CO2 during this week.

Solution I can make my ecological footprint better by car pooling, riding my bike, walking, and making fewer trips to the store. There are many times that we are wasteful and not conservative when driving our vehicles. For instance most of the time I use parent pick up to get home from school. To help to control the burning of fuels we can car pool with other families. I also told my mom that instead of letting the car idle while she waits it would help the environment if she would turn of the engine.

My family can also help the reduction of fuels with being organized in the planning of task, outings and running of errands so that repeat trips to the stores during the week can be reduced. For example planning a menu and shopping less frequently. Another option would be to carpool for after school activities and sports like basketball, baseball games and practices. When I am at my Grandparents or Dad’s that live in shore towns I have the option to walk or ride a bike to get to places rather than jumping in a car because it is the easie.st form of transportation. An ecological footprint is important in planning ways to save the environment. We can also do this by educating ourselves as Science advances in the reduction of dangerous fuels and gases in the world around of us.

How, What, Were, When, Why! How?; it started by CO2 and other pollutants getting into the air. What caused it?; CO2, smoke, exhaust fume, industrial fumes, cars, trucks, motorcycles, electrical power plants and fossil fuels. When?; it started when the first fire or explosion began. Air pollution regulations first appeared in England in Along time ago!!!!! Why?; Pollution began when factories were built. When factories released smoke into the air, pollution came along with it. The smoke got into the air that we breathed. Some people even died just because the air was bad. Air pollution is natural result of dust storms, volcanic activity, forest fires, decomposition and venting gases. It has existed as long as the Earth has existed. Human related air pollution started as man developed the use of fire for cooking and heating and to clean land for agriculture by burning. Where?; is started in when the fist fire or explosion occurred in history.

What I learned I learned that we need to stop and take the time to help the ecosystem, and also started taking better care of it. I also learned that we can really make a big difference for our future and the we as kid and adult can save the world. I also learned that we need to take the time to think of what were doing.
