Community access to ICTS Internet (with ) service was initiated in by Mercantile Ltd. followed by World Link (1998) [Private sector]. Nepal Telecom (Govt. undertaking) started internet services in Nepal Telecommunications Authority was established in March Nepal Telecom has been providing internet services in 55 districts.

Community access to ICTS (contd…) Registered Internet Service Providers (ISPs): 26. Cyber Café : Less than 500 Internet subscribers : 45,000 Internet users : 225,000 Localities with access to internet : 1.8% Population with access to internet : 15.8%
