Wind Section 7.2 Allie Ferra, Savannah Wehler, and Taylor Thomason

Wind Power The force of moving air. Can be captured by a windmill, which can be used to generate electricity. The amount of power generated depends on the speed of the wind, the length of the windmill’s blades, and efficiency of the windmill.

Windmill Farms For wind to provide for several homes, windmill farms must be built. Windmill farms can have up to several hundred windmill’s. Farms in the U.S. – Hawaii, California, New Hampshire. Homeowners can use individual windmills to power small electrical generators.

Windmills over the years Wind isn’t the most efficient way to provide electricity. Since 1991, the number of windmills dropped in California. - The amount of electricity has remained about the same. 1999, California windmills produced over 1650 megawatts of electricity - About the same amount produced by a medium sized nuclear powerplant.
