4 Announcements  Raffle  Drawing for private wine tasting party at your home held will be after our guest speaker’s presentation. (You must be present to win.)  Thank you to Scott Davidson from PRP Wine International for donation of the prize.  If you haven’t purchased raffle tickets, you may do so up until our guest speaker begins his presentation.  All proceeds will support future MPA projects.  Interested in Joining the MPA Board?  Please speak with any current board member

5 Current Activities- Proposed Name Change  Polled Membership about proposal to change from McDowell Park Association (MPA) to Friends of McDowell Park (FMP )  Rationale: Confusion with the McDowell Mountain Park itself; we are a non-profit organization of volunteers supporting the park.  New name better differentiates us from the Park and identifies us as a support group rather than park or county employees  Need approval by members: 2/3 majority present at Annual Membership Meeting  Impact of Name change:  Filing of documentation to change the name of our charity with the AZ Corporation Commission  Change or cross-reference name on bank accounts  Modify By-laws

6  Sent out to Membership in October Newsletter (hard copy and electronically) to meet the requirement of 30 days notice prior to vote  Highlights of changes - attempt to simplify the by- laws and allow some flexibility  Number of board members required  Terms of office  BOD nomination procedure  Hold annual meeting in 1Q of each year when most members and resident of our communities are present  Formatting, grammar, etc.  Vote  All in Favor-raise you hand  All Against-raise your hand  Decision Current Activities- Changes to By-Laws

12 Thank-you, Rand Hubbell  Retiring from Park Service, Dec 31, 2015  Supervisor of McDowell Mountain Regional Park  21 years with Maricopa County  13 years with McDowell Mountain Park  Primary point of contact for MPA projects  Best Wishes

13 Guest Speaker: Leonard Marcisz  Currently serves as President and Chairman of the Board of the Board of Directors of the Arizona Historical Society (AHS), a state trustee agency responsible for the management of 12 state historical properties and museums.  AHS also certifies museums in Arizona that meet state standards for curation and education.  Served as Vice Chairman of the City of Scottsdale’s Historic Preservation Commission.  Served on the Board of Directors of the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy from 2005 through 2011, and is a former Chairman of the Board.  Contributing author for the Field Guide to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. His articles regarding the history of the McDowell Mountains have appeared in several local periodicals.  Scriptwriter and moderator for the Scottsdale City Cable Channel 11 historical series “Scottsdale Yesterdays.”  Leads themed desert hikes for the Fountain Hills Conservancy and McDowell Sonoran Conservancy.  Tonight’s Topic: The McDowells, Ghosts, Murderers, Fires and More…

16 2015 Summary & Upcoming Activities  ATV Trailer Purchase – for ATV bought in 2014  Concrete Pad- Bike repair and wash station  Fountain Hills Fair - MPA Volunteers Nov 13-15 (thank you)  Update website - include photos, links to other park related websites (maps, etc.), name and email change, revised by- laws  McDowell Messenger Publication – evaluating distribution to members by email and printed copies for Community Center(s) and Post office  Evaluate upcoming projects - our involvement and contributions (through Park guidance)  Park Bench - donated by FMP, after name acceptance
