1. Question 1: How do we define the personality traits of a hero? The society the hero grows up in will influence him or her dramatically as they enter their hero stage in their adult years ("Frodo Baggins Biography”) The people the hero grows up with will also affect the personality of the hero and if he does good tasks or bad tasks. ("Frodo Baggins”)

2. Question 2: How do the setting, conflicts, and antagonists influence the development of literary heroes? By living in a peaceful area or maybe an area where there are always fights, the hero will be influenced by that on a large scale. Antagonists and conflicts within heroes society will cause strife and possibly the will to change these problems and become a hero. ("Frodo Baggins Biography”) Parents and siblings influence the growing hero with their attitude and methods of raising and cooperating with their child. ("Frodo Baggins”)

3. Question 3: How does a hero reflect his/her particular culture and society? By growing up in his or her society the hero takes in the actions and ways of the people around them. As the hero in a different society, the hero will invoke their ways to possibly bring peace. This can all depend on the environment of the society the hero grows up in. ("Frodo bio." Arwen-Undomiel”) By becoming a hero, their will usually be many that follow the hero’s example to become like them. By doing this the hero will influence his or her culture to the civilians of that area. (“Was Frodo a hero, did he have free will and does it matter?”)

4. Question 4: How does a hero represent his/her time period and geographical area and genre? The hero represents his time period by using weapons and fighting techniques of that period and using what resources are given to them from either powers from birth, or natural occurrences of that geographical place. ("Frodo bio." Arwen-Undomiel”) Also depending on the time period their can be worse conditions like rising evils or maybe just small crime in a city. (“Was Frodo a hero, did he have free will and does it matter?”) Also depending on the genre, the hero can have complete different characteristics then a hero who is actually living and breathing.

5. Question 5: How do various cultures reward or recognize their heroes? Depending on the culture, the hero can receive friendships, weapons, enemies, and many challenges from the people or things they interact with. (“Examining Frodo as the Unwitting Hero of Tolkien's Middle-earth”) Some cultures fear heroes and don’t want them there even though the hero is helping them and has saved them many times. Usually in the end of the heroes career, the people will appreciate what the hero has done and respect them with a monument or something to remember them by. ("The Humble Hero”)

6. Question 6: At the end of Frodo's quest, would he still have taken this task if he knew what was ahead of him? I believe that Frodo would have still taken the quest because he knew the gravity in destroying the ring and how he was middle earth’s only hope of survival. I do believe though that he would have taken many different approaches to it. (“Examining Frodo as the Unwitting Hero of Tolkien's Middle-earth”) At the end of Frodo’s quest, he felt relieved beyond belief and just wanted to rest and recover from his wounds. Frodo received the ultimate gift which was entry to the elf heaven. Frodo chose to leave his life behind and all his friends due to a wound he received towards the beginning of his quest, that could not be healed on the world he was on. So Frodo had to leave forever because of what his quest did to him. ("The Humble Hero”)

7. Question 7: Who gave him the courage to be the ring bearer? Frodo mainly received his courage from his own will power and drive to destroy this burden he had. He knew that if he failed all his friends and would die and his dear home would be destroyed. Before Frodo was made aware of this ring, a good friend of his named Gandalf came to Frodo’s home and told Frodo the news of this evil that was right in Frodo’s home. By Gandalf almost forcing him to take this ring, and by Frodo wanting to be like his uncle( the prier ring bearer of the ring Frodo has to destroy) Bilbo and be adventurous like him, Frodo felt that he had to take this thing away from the shire( his home) and get it safely to better hands. (“Frodo and Sams strength”) Once Frodo decided that he was going to be the one to take this task, one friend went with him against Frodo’s want to help him and make sure he survived his quest. Sam was a childhood friend of Frodo’s and remained very close friends with him all the way to the end of Frodo’s time in Middle earth. If Sam was no there to help Frodo with his quest, I believe Frodo would has succumbed to the will of the ring and lost all courage and hope. (“The more it stays in Frodo's possession, the more it corrupts him until finally he refuses to part with it.”)

8. Question 8: What was his childhood like? As a boy in the shire, Frodo grew up with his uncle because his parents died of a boating accident. Frodo was very independent and enjoyed being by himself in the woods or wherever it was quite. Bilbo was away for years at a time on his quests that Frodo did not no much about at all. But when his uncle finally retired from his adventure’s, Frodo was told all of Bilbo’s amazing adventures that sounded so appealing to him. I believe this was one big influence on Frodo, to be like his uncle and go on his own big adventure. ("Frodo Baggins Biography”) Besides his uncles action life filled with excitement and danger, Frodo grew up peacefully with friends not ever really experiencing violence and terror in the shire. Like all hobbits( Frodo’s race or humans who only grow to a child’s height) Frodo lived in peace and remained a good person throughout all his life, That is why the ring had so much trouble corrupting Frodo and tempting him to put the ring on and revel his location to the ring’s master. (“Why is he not considered a hero while other characters are?”)

9. Question 9: Who were the big influences in his life as a hobbit? As a hobbit Frodo influences base off of his environment, friends, and family he grows up with. By living in a peaceful environment with peaceful friends, Frodo comes into the task of taking the ring with pretty much no leadership skill or qualities a hero needs. (“Why is he not considered a hero while other characters are?”) ("Frodo Baggins”)

10. Question 10: Who were his influences during his quest? At the start Frodo’s quest, a fellowship of eight warriors were assigned to go with Frodo and protect him all the way to Mt.Doom. These characters prepared Frodo for what was ahead of him and the dangers of his quest. Especially Gandalf was closest to Frodo in being his advisor on what to do and how to overcome what is ahead of him. When Gandalf dies Frodo turns to himself for advice and wants to continue alone. But just about as Frodo is going to finish his quest on his own, his friends Sam comes with him and influences Frodo the most to the hero he becomes. ("Frodo Baggins”) (“Frodo and Sams strength”)
