- It is sometimes cheaper to borrow a book than to buy it - ILL is a great way for the acquisitions department to analyze your collection - Libraries can quickly get crowded and ILL makes weeding more palatable No library can own everything but with ILL’s help it might seem like you can.

- According to a 2004 study of ARL libraries by Mary Jackson, each transaction costs a total of$26.77- this amount may be more or less for others and may only apply to those in her study, but it’s one finding among others - Maxcost line- don’t forget to use it - IFM reduces processing costs - Some stores appear on OCLC as lenders- know who you are ordering from- ALBRS, QUICK, BWBKS

- Sharing Groups- LYRA, SO6… http://www.lyrasis.org/Products-and- Services/OCLC-At-A-Glance/Resource- Sharing-Groups.aspx - LVIS http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departmen ts/library/who_we_are/OCLC/lvis.html http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departmen ts/library/who_we_are/OCLC/lvis.html

 Checking copyright for new article requests and keeping track of that  Rule of 5- we can order up to 5 articles per journal title for anything published in the last 5 years.  Where is the code? http://digital-law-online.info/CONTU/contu24.html  CCC- www.copyright.comwww.copyright.com

Borrowing  Excellent personal service to your own patrons - help patrons choose material to request when appropriate - be honest about timeframes  Lending - try to loan “non-standard returnables” - speed is your friend - if you can, stay open around Christmas
