9  Annotation for vernacular building; including details of constructional components, elements and materials (Brunskill 1978)

10  In addition to elevations and plan views we also use sections. These can be a slice through a building at designated points.

12  Sketching is a very important way to communicate  Sketching helps train the eye  Handy hints for beginners! ◦ Look at the bigger picture first (i.e. draw the main walls, roof etc first) ◦ Look for relationships such as regular dimensions and proportions (i.e. window arrangements) ◦ Put in decoration last ◦ Use a pencil to gauge the size of elements (such as walls and doors)
