2 What is it?  Emotionally Healthy  You seek, value, and maintain good relationships with yourself with others, and with society.  Eat well, exercise, and get enough rest.  Emotionally Unhealthy??  Self-destructive  Abuse alcohol and drugs.  Eating problems, overwork or underwork, take risks  Lead to other problems

6 Values  Life’s Steering Wheel  Value Statements:  “We work hard”  “We believe in education”  “We stick together”  Do they change?

7 Values  Guides your thinking and actions!  Values are both conscious and unconscious  To cheat or not to cheat?

8 Question Yourself  Connection - Learn values by stating beliefs  Ask yourself  Are you willing to state this value to others?  Can you stand by this value no matter what?  Are you consistent with this value?  Wait a second – Conflicting Values?  Hmmm – Fun or Study???

9 Emotions  Some there at birth  Affection, Anger, Fear  Some learned?  Envy or Prejudiced

10 Are Emotions Ever Wrong?  Absolutely Not!!!!  The real question is – Should you act on all emotions?  Hitting a baby?!

11 Don’t Hold Back!  Express your feelings physically? 1.Recognize it. 2.Own It. 3.Verbalize it. 4.Express it physically. 5.If necessary, think about the situation.

12 Biggest Fear in Forming New Relationships  REJECTION!!  Communicate  Body language matters

13 Eye to Eye Experiment  For the rest of the day in the halls during passing time, focus on look your your classmates and peers in the eye as you pass them  Maintain a locked focus on the person for as long as possible  Notice how many times the person will feel uncomfortable and be forced to look away  Why does this happen?  What type of emotion or attitude are you displaying by performing this eye to eye experiment  Mike Tyson Story.
