Ziplock Container and 2L Bottle System

Bill of Materials –3 screw top Ziplock Containers –3 empty 2L soda bottles –Aquarium tubing –Aquarium pump –4 way valve aquarium pump splitter –Silicone sealant –3 Aquarium tubing straight connectors –Timer capable of 15 on/off cycles per day Tools –1” hole saw –Drill –Misc. drill bits –Scissors/razor blade

Using hole saw, drill hole in lid of container. Drill slowly so as not to crack plastic lid. Using drill bit that matches airline diameter, drill a hole in the cap of the 2L bottle. Clean labels off of 2L bottles and cut them in half. Spray paint 2L bottles and ziplock containers (clear parts only) with white spray paint. 2 coats is best.

Apply a thin bead of silicone around the 1” opening on the ziplock container. Do this on the outside AND inside of the lid. Screw 2L bottle top through hole in Ziplock Container lid. Cut a length of air line tubing for each container set up. The tubing needs to reach the bottom of the reservoir (ziplock container). Apply a thin bead of silicone around the hole of the 2L bottle cap. Do this inside and outside. Insert the airline through this hole. Smear silicone or apply more if needed. This should be air and water tight. Connect ziplock screw top to container. Set up should look like this picture.

Near the top of the reservoir container, drill a hole that matches the diameter of the airline straight connector. Do this on each container. Insert a straight connector into each container and seal using silicone sealant. Again, this hole must be air and water tight. Attach airline to each container. Attach these lengths of airline to the 4way airvalve. Attach the 4 way valve to the air pump. Plug the pump into the timer and set to appropriate on/off cycle for plant.

Fill each bottle with clay pellets. Plant a growing plant or start seeds in grow plugs.
